Two quick questions regarding the now well-known issue with the throwout/release bearing on the 2005 Tacoma with 6speed manual trans:

    1) is the TSB from December 2010 the last/latest TSB on addressing this problem? (http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...ch-bearing.pdf)

    2) does anybody know if it is okay to just leave it alone and just live with the chirping or will it create major damage if not replaced either with the TSB procedure or with the PDM parts?

    Thanks.

one thing to note, and i found this out the hard way and luckily it was very short lived

if you do the TSB you need to do all of it, not just the bearing. Also if you do a URD TOB with the sleave you need to do the rest of the TSB.

They changed the geometry of the bearing itself, and the URD bearing is the new geometry.

The pivot ball and the slave cylinder in the TSB are different lengths than the stock ones and are made to match the new TOB

if you just do the new bearing (toyota or URD) and dont do the slave cylinder or pivot ball then your clutch will be extremely hard to push in and out and engage really quickly.
