Please help me! I have a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 2wd sr5 2.4l. 2 months ago it has a check engine light for misfire cylinder two. I replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, and the ignition coils. The code went away so I assumed it was ok. It still was idling a little rough but I got busy and ignores it. Recently it has been idling really rough. Feels like it's misfiring but no codes. Sometimes so rough it shuts off. Any ideas? I will include a video! http://youtu.be/qg2J74wi14g

Is this when you first start it up when its cold? And if you give it some gas for a few seconds, does it flatten out after that? When I see a bouncing needle it always makes me think of and intake gasket leak or some kind of air leak around the throttle body

It's pretty much all the time. I did the deck plate mod a year ago and it has been fine. Maybe the deck plate is leaking when it's shut? I took the deck plate out to allow air in and it doesn't change could it be the IAC valve?

I'm thinking it could be the IAC valve plugged up. I could be wrong but I saw a thread about a v6 Tacoma with similar symptoms and he said he fixed it by cleaning the IAC valve.

Update. Plugged In a code reader and got code saying throttle position sensor bad. Replaced the tps and still have the problem. Got some sea foam maybe it will clean something and help? Otherwise looks like I'm headed to the iac and maf

@bry838 the sea foam seems to have helped. Still going to clean the iac can anyone link a iac valve how to write up? I can't find one.

I don't think I've seen a write up for the IAC. Its pretty straight forward though. The TB needs to come off, which should be fairly obvious what needs to happen for removal. Then it's just three or four very tight screws and the IAC is off.

Bry838 I ran sea foam and the thing runs great. I did the rotors and pads repackaged wheel bearings. Flushed the brake fluid and filled and bled the. Basically a brand new truck!
