TRD 7th injector kit on 1999 5VZFE 4x4. Compatible?

    Hi folks,

    Can't reliably determine whether my 1999 Tacoma will be compatible with the TRD 7th injector kit. The kit installation literature seems to indicate that it's compatible with only 2000 and up, but comparing the ECU pinouts between the 2000 and 1999 ECU here shows very little difference, and none where it matters on the "E-5" block.:confused:

    Does anyone know off the top of their head if the TRD 7th injector kit is compatible with a 1999 Tacoma (non-EGR equipped) ECU?

    So, after some research to answer my own question and for of anyone else who may be wondering: not without a lot more research and some modification.

    The TRD 7th injector kit is very model specific and only works on 2000+ Cal spec (EGR equipped) or federal spec with the "five block" ECM which looks like this:

    The older model ECM does not have a "IGSW" pinout on the E-5 block at all, so there isn't a straight forward way to properly connect the TRD ECU. It looks like this:
