Hey guys. Truck is getting tinted on Sunday. Ceramic is $100 more. Is it worth the extra money?

Its said that ceramic is supposed to keep inside the truck a bit cooler.

I have had both non-ceramic and ceramic tint. I can tell you the ceramic tint make a huge difference in blocking heat. It is worth the extra money. If you want it done right I highly recommend Ron @ Midnight Tinting.

Everyone has their "guy"... I've dealt with Henry (Kings Kustom tinting) for years... met the guy when he was a manager with T&T and found him over the years when he opened his own place with his daughters.. I had a fresh window installed that he looked over and made the guy redo... a little more time to wait, but done right.. he has done my cars, my house, and the school's front windows. Anything I'm gonna tint, Henry will be my guy...

This is my issue. I want 5% rear. And 35% front. But I'm contemplating doing ceramic and would want the windshield done too.

I have ceramic and love it...but I think I paid too much for it.

groupon at T&T was nice, but they charged extra for 5% vs 35% in the rear

I think ceramic films are better suited for residences. I mean, if your truck has working windows and ac, you are going to be cooling it off anyway. And when it bakes in the sun, how much temp reduction do you get when the whole cab is heated up, not just light going through the tint. Easy up sell for tint places to make more $ when you don't really need it.

id just go regular. but ii think the windshield if u go 70 only comesin ceramic

hehehe in my "younger days" i would go 5 on 5 all around and 35 onthe windshield. my friend would do the same but 20 on the windshield. the new legal limit on the windshield is 70

Think you just saved me $100 that can go towards my seat covers. LOL. Roll down windows. Blast AC for 5 minutes. Shoots. LOL

yeah, I tinted over the oem privacy glass. overall, I'm happy with my truck. it can sit in the hot sun all day long and its only slightly warm and stuffy when I first get in, but it cools down in less than a minute from turning on AC.

My car on the other hand, is still pretty toasty, but much better than it used to be with nothing..but my car didn't have privacy glass either. I may need to do the windshield with that clear blue legal stuff as it's the biggest piece of glass and its wide open besides a sun shade.

It depends where you live..... if you live Westside and the sun is in your face and on your left side you will notice the difference between the ceramic and regular. The Heat coming thru the tint is where you will notice the diffrence. I have ceramic tint and I can tell the difference, is it worth it? ... I think so. Will I do it again? .... yes.

Definitely worth it. I run llumar CTX - 15 on the front and 40 over the rear factory privacy glass. Meters less than 1% different, which was a big deal to me lol

What have you done to your truck lately
I got the ceramic and windshield tint and the truck is a lot cooler when I get off work, parking in the hot sun all day.

I'm glad you asked this question OP. I cannot wait to get ceramic tint. I was planning to do normal then heard about this stuff just the other day. The extra money is nothing compared to A) The cost of the truck and B) the cost if you were to divide it into the number of times you benefit from it. No brainer for me, but I completely understand the residencies comment from earlier. It's just too hot down here and covered parking is unheard of.

I got ceramic on mine. Went to Tintpro and they had the heat lamp test with ceramic vs. non-ceramic. HUGE difference. Definitely worth it to me, but to each their own.

They usually have a Yelp deal, and lifetime warranty which is transferable to any authorized installer of Solar Gard brand was a bonus.

Never noticed the difference until I got a car that wasn't tinted. After I got it tinted noticed a huge difference in temps.

I got the best hookup on that tint job. Top of the line Llumar tint on a 4 door bmw328. $100, installed by one of the highest rated shops in town. Nice to have good friends.
