I was trying to find info on these relatively new tires and didn't find much so I thought I would start this thread. The Toyo R/T is supposed to fit in between their All Terrain and Mud Terrain lineup.

I bought them in 265/75/16 (their sizes are still pretty limited). They are replacing Good Year Duratracs in the same size, which I found to be a fairly nice all-around tire. I had the C rated version and I did experience a slashed sidewall while driving on dirt roads - which lead me to be constantly paranoid anytime I was out in the dirt.

Anyway, just mounted them up this morning. So far on the highway, they are smoother than the Duratracs, it's almost like a regular passenger car tire. Nose levels are slightly quieter too - it's almost completely silent up to 60mph and then there is a very slight hum from 65-75mph (haven't gone any faster yet). The hum is a lower pitch than the Duratracs.

I did take the truck onto some gravel / dirt. For what it's worth, I did feel the tires bit better than the Duratracs on my two quick rudimentary tests.

One was just accelerating hard from a stop / slow roll. The other was driving up an off camber embankment in 2-wheel drive. I've driven up it on the Duratracs many times, when the suspension flexes one of the tires looses grip. There was much less wheel spin with these Toyo's.

That's all I've got for now.

Looks like an improved dura really. Straight outer edges with an angled center section of blocks. Similar to the dick cepek fc2.

    Your truck looks awesome

What is your gas mileage with these tires? I'm curious.

Don't know yet, I've only driven 1/4 tank. I do feel like the truck rolls easier, but I'm not sure if it's just a mental thing since there is less noise and the tire is smoother.

I'll update after I've driven on it for a while.

Keep us updated, these tires look appealing to me when I was looking. The price was crazy but very curious how they perform. They look sick

These tires look meaty! A lot better than on toyos website. I never considered them until I saw your pictures.

Thanks! I wish they made the sidewalls a little more meaty - when you get up close the tires look pretty mean but from 20 yards away the sidewalls don't contrast as much as the Duratrac's. They are still kinda shiny too - oh well, can't have everything I guess.

Good looks tires. Toyo open county R/T tires are specially designed for SUV and Truck, these Tires e sidewalls very aggressive. The Toyo RT is 100% American made tires with ultra-aggressive tread pattern that was inspired by the Open Country M/T and they are smooth & much more quiet than the m/t.

Quick update. I did a little wheeling over the weekend and I continue to be impressed with the tires. They seem to grip better than the Duratrac's in every condition I've encountered.

Dry pavement: They grip just as well if not better. They do not chirp over paint. They do wander a little more at free way speeds (I lowered the pressure a bit and it seemed to help. Toyo's seem to roll easier too.

Wet pavement: Only had these in the rain once, I tried purposefully to get them to spin and it took a lot more throttle than the Duratracs did. No comment on pooled water / hydro plane resistance yet.

Gravel: Tracks better. When turning on loose gravel at speed the Duratrac's floated a bit. The Toyo's in comparison bite like it's on rails.

Rocks: Seem to stick better to them. Sidewalls held up, if you see in the video I pinched once on a rock.

Wet Dirt: Also seems to just bite / dig better.

Still limited use, but so far I'm very happy with these tires.

Where are the sipes? I don't see how these could compete with the Duratracs in the snow/ice, no sipes. I also don't really understand the wet road comment, the Duratrac with sipes should be better.

I haven't driven in snow with either so I can't comment on that. All I know is, on wet concrete (from rain), they don't spin as easily. Only judging from a hard stop of the throttle - again, I drove them in the rain for one day so the time was limited.

The better wet traction must result from a better rubber compound. The tiny little sipes in the duratracs never seemed to look that effective to me and I have heard a lot about the traction in them going downhill after being half-worn. I don't have any experience with either though.
