Do you measure your tongue weight every time you hook up. What do you personally use to measure it with and how long does it take you?

I found this unique tow hitch with a built in scale called Weigh-Safe. Looks kind of pricey but if you factor in the amount of time it would take you to measure and adjust your load to get the proper tongue weight, I feel this would be the best thing so far! ;)

If you were to tow many trailer configs then i could see checking this.

I have two trailers and only once did a weight check.
Have another truck and car trailer. run many different weights.
We set it up with 2 different weight vehicles and use them points as a reference.
If you have a travel trailer , once its set up most likely that's the way it's going to stay.

Easy way for me is to set up the trailer how you think you want it.
I know my truck sags a certain amount by the tongue per 100 pounds.
If i use a new setup i back under and measure to the ground. drop the trailer and measure again. done.
FYI tongue weight is important however your % will vary. Some trailers run better lighter on the tongue, some heavier. A good road test is necessary to determine the best for you. While this can get you in the ballpark, trying to by absolute numbers is a waste IMO. If you rarely tow or never have before and if you think this will give you a piece of mind. Get it. outside of that.......

    Thanks for the info! ;)

With this hitch, anyone can easily tell how much tongue weight they have as they actively adjust their trailered load.

Since I have a single wheel trailer, this type of hitch won't work for my needs but I thought I would post on what I found while shopping. ;)

Oh yea absolutely. Info here is always good.
I thought you were asking about a personal situation.
Single wheel trailers need proper setup too as I'm sure you know.
I have seen some pretty scary singles going down the road.

    Again thanks for the info.

Here's what I have on my hitch to dampen the road oscillations...adjustable air shocks. I guess in a way I can increase my tongue weight this way by increasing the air pressure. I'm not sure how I would measure the actual tongue weight without a complicated math formula to account for the added pressure from the aired up air shocks. ;)
