    Hey ya'll....

I'll be graduating from college next May and I'm taking my USAA commissioning loan soon with the intent on buying a cheap new vehicle; I figure walking to work will get pretty old fast :D

A smaller truck is what I've been leaning toward, so I've been going between the Tacoma and it's arch-enemy, the Frontier. I'm looking for whatever my patient bargaining and about 18-20k (maybe I'm too optimistic haha) in cash from my commissioning loan will get me....looking at a stripped down PreRunner and the Nissan counterpart, the Desert Runner. Both these trucks MSRP for about 25k.

Just playing sponge and trying to soak up all the info I can get....thanks for reading this!!!!

I don't think you can go too far wrong with either. Both are more reliable than a lot of vehicles. The Toyota will hold it's value better. If you move overseas and want to sell it, that will come in handy. If I were you, I would consider a used one. The Tacoma V6 w auto easily will last over 300k if well cared for. I've seen first gen Tundras, V8 w auto, for sale locally with over 400k on them. Congrats on graduating from college, and on your career in the military.

Walk to work .... It's healthy for you!! Lol

If you wait a few months and save up some more cash, you can get a new 2016.

    But seriously.... Drive them both.

This is a Tacoma forum! The Frontier is butt ugly (if you ask me). :D
