Looking for some insight for proper rear suspension set up to handle camping and motorcycle load in the rear. After loading the a dual sport, camping gear, wood and passengers the tail end seems to suffer quite a bit. I do camp in remote areas but never take a tail that merits having to need a locker. So I guess wheel travel isn't my concern, unless they come hand-to-hand?

I do plan on upgrading the front suspension after a minimum of sliders. Waiting to see those BAMF no-drills pan out for 2015 models:cool: But for now, got a few camping trips planned and would like to support that heavy rear.

My concern is setting it up for weight, but how it would handle the other 90% of the time, unweighted.

    Current rig:
    dcsb 4x4 trd sport
    all stock suspension
    265/70/r17
    Snugtop shell *factory reinforced
Full spare / HiLift always in the bed
    Prinsu topper rack

    Additional camp weight:
Roof top tent on shell ~100lbs
Dual sport ~330lbs? *rides on a Joe hitch carrier.
    Rest of the family :D
    Cooler

Other options? Not interested in the trailer option though haha

    Thanks!!

You could look at an AAL set of springs as well. I put a set of the wheelers off-road ones on (I think they're the 'progressive' now, they were called the "HD" when I ordered them). They carry weight really nicely and the ride isn't all that different when it's not loaded. Icon makes some as well, the wheelers were a bit cheaper. I matched them with some new springs and some bilstein 5100s in the front to keep it level and take some more weight in the cab as well.

I frequently carry 4-5 full kegs of beer in the back at 165 lbs apiece and don't have any bottoming out issues anymore, definitely did with stock suspension. (I own a brewery, in case you're wondering why I am toting around 60-75 gallons of beer at a time....)
