Told him I hadn't seen a prerunner in 4 wheel drive. His response was that he put the sticker on there and took pictures. Posted the ad and was informed that it wasn't 4x4 after the fact. Said he needs to remove that picture...

They are definitely pulling some shady shit if some cars on the lot have a autocheck and some have a carfax. Plus the truck is priced wwaayyy low. Run from this and just keep searching for another deal.

I still wouldn't trust Carfax with out a good inspection. I have a civic that has a clean Carfax, but it's been stolen 3 times and recovered.

It's always a major bullshit alert when they give you a line like that. When my son was looking for a good used Taco we ran into a few dealers that lied through their teeth. One low rent lot didn't even have the Tacoma they advertised. Three groups of people were there at the same time looking for the truck. They lied just to get people on the lot, told us it was out on a test run, and were trying to pitch a couple used Dakota's they had. When they act vague about the truck.....run.

 

Yeah...uh....leave them with that truck and find yourself another one. I can smell the stench of thievery from here.

 

The dealership should give you a free carfax. If they don't, be wary of the truck because that usually means they are trying to hide something. And remember, not every little thing gets reported to carfax, sometimes people pay for accidents out of pocket so still be on the lookout for obvious signs of damage and inspect it carefully before buying.
