I'm not military, but I've watched a shit load of GI Joe Cartoons and I have the imagination of a 5 year old.

To me that looks like a speaker on it, so I'd guess its a trip wire simulator for training as you stated. I bet its battery operated and when the pin is pulled it makes a super loud ass noise.

Could be fun. Wanna sell it ;)

I don't think it's something I could sell! I also don't believe there are any electronics involved.

    I won't tell haha.

Take some more pics of it. What is that thing that looks like a speaker on it? Hard to tell from the image.

Looked at it on my laptop and zoomed in. Pretty sure that's a speaker. The electronics would be inside of it. All you'd need is a battery, a switch, and some wire.

I think it's the female end of something. The black material is hard plastic that was broken off

How heavy is it? It looks like it could be the reusable section of DES.

It's the doohickey portion of a whatchamacallit. It bolts directly onto a whooseywhatsit and makes a whistling noise and flashes bright lights. You should eBay it.

My guess is a trip wire device. Smoke would be my thought.
    Interesting find.

With the new pics, definitely looks like a trip flare.
