Hey guys so I've already posted a few things about OME And what not but I need some advice. My tacoma is my only vehicle so I need a loft that is practical for every dau driving and occasional off-road. Budget really isn't an issue. I have $3,500 to spend but I fell like top of the line icons or fox with resivors is over kill. And if you have to continually rebuild them every 5k or so that just seems like a lot of maintenance costs for something I'll off-road in maybe 5 times a year. I hair don't know that the best set up will be? I'm willing to spend the cash on a great set up I just don't want to have to always be maintaining something that is too much for what I'm doing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kinda depends on how much lift you are looking for. If you're just looking to fit a little larger tires under her then I would go with 5100's and an AAL. I would think that setup would be just fine. I went with 5100's set at 1.75 and still have the stock TSB springs on the rear.

I'm looking at 3" of lift and 33"s Im prepared to get new Uca's as well. I Think I should do something once and do it right. I know 5100's are good but I can afford a lot more.

That's cool. I was only interested in at most 2" so the 5100's were perfect for me. Haven't really looked beyond that but I know for a fact somebody on here will chime in with what your looking for.

OME is a good option. I have the full kit with 33's.

How long have you ran your set up. How is the ride? And is it pretty squirlly driving down the road or is it pretty stable?

887s? I'm only an access can. I was thinking 885's

And for a full 3" don't you need the top plate spacers? Or is that why you recommended 887s?

Drives as straight as an arrow. No issues.

Depends on your opinions of spacers. The 887's are for 4Runners IIRC and are the same spring rate as the 885's just approx. 1/2" taller which compensates for the spacer run with the 885's. I have 885's plus spacers because 887's were not as commonly used when I did my lift. Since you are access cab, you could get the 885's see where they sit and then add the 1/2" spacer if you wanted to go a little higher. Otherwise just get the 887's and you'll get 3".

You're all good man, so is there a set up that's better than ome but not as all out as icons and fox etc.? And could anyone address the rebuilding of shocks and if I don't wheel much. Would I need to rebuild them?

Can anyone else chime in on the rebuild time frame? 70-80k? Like I said most driving will be on road

I would pull the trigger on some icons if I didn't have to worry about rebuilding until after 50k. I know it depends on how you drive to. Everyone is different

Guys that are running their shocks pretty hard are getting 20-30k miles before rebuilds. Mall crawler's are likely getting much better. If you're looking at Icon, Fox, King, etc, look at ADS - I wish I had heard of them before I fell into the Icon marketing (nothing particularly against Icon, my coilovers work as advertised)
