    V6. With a lift and tires the 4-banger is overworked, especially mine and the OP's autos.

    2nd gen.... completely different truck, weight, engine & technology.

    I know this is an old post but I get the same mileage only mine is Manual, same set up 3" lift and 265/75R16 duratreks.

    Lucky, I'm hanging right around 16.5 mpgs. Only on the highway and cruise control set to 70 do I get more than 17. Do you have any armor, toolbox, etc? Auto or 5 speed? Maybe my bumper and skids and toolbox are weighing me down.
