In a Base model 2009, is there a place in the rear wiring that is designed to allow hookup of Towing Brake & Turn lights?

Look up a trailer lighting kit from Hopkins Mfg. Put one on the son in laws truck and it works just fine. Pt. # 43355

Some trucks have a 4 wire flat even without a tow pkg. Most Fords do but I do believe Tacomas do. You might look for an aftermarket plug and play. The OEM part from Tacoma is about $200

    OP has a base.

As a base owner myself, I'm curious if I'm missing out on an upgrade opportunity? :D

Just seems odd there isn't an empty connector stowed somewhere, but looking around underneath I don't see it yet. Just hate to go splicing wires and then hear that there was a better way.........

Later: Checked out the Hopkins and other wiring kits. For the cost they are a good way to go. Several offered, and price varies by Mfr quite a lot. Some are clearly built to plug into the existing T-Lite coonectors, like this one.

The Hoppy kit is a no brainer install! A handful of zip ties to secure the wiring harness and drill a hole for the ground wire. Kit works as advertised!

I have a TRD Off Road, but I feel I may be able to make a difference here.

Last summer when I relocated my wire harness plug from under the bumper to up IN the bumper beside the lisence plate, I had to remove the plug. I traced the wire right up and it was plugged in to the truck wiring right up beside the right rear break light area. It was a round white plug, probably 3 quarters of an inch big. If you were to walk right up to the back of your truck and lay down on your back, your left hand should easily reach this plug up by the frame and such. If you can locate that plug you're in business.
