Hello all, just wanted to get in here with an introduction thread. My name is Dale, I'm 27, I work as a mechanical engineer, and I live in Walker Valley, NY. I've driven trucks all my life, as they go hand in hand with riding dirt bikes. This truck is my first Tacoma, my current outgoing truck is a '96 Mazda B2300 2WD, before that I had a '99 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. I've also had numerous cars over the years, most of them being Chrysler Conquests.

I picked up my Tacoma last Thursday, it's a 2011 TRD Off-Road 4x4, Access Cab with the 6spd manual. I bought it from Rockland Toyota in Blauvelt NY with ~44k on the clock. It's a Toyota CPO truck and I think I got it for a very fair price compared to similar trucks in the area.

Not looking to do any serious off-roading with it, basically going to be my full time daily driver, dirt bike hauler and general materials mover.

I'd like to have the frame coated in waxoyl or something similar, maybe install a leveling kit, cold air intake, exhaust, and probably a few misc. bed accessories to make hauling my stuff more convenient. Mainly looking to increase efficiency and longevity.

First impressions of the truck are great. It makes surprisingly good power, especially at low RPM. The gearing is extremely close ratio, I think that I could probably get away with using 2nd and 5th or 6th as my only two gears and the truck wouldn't miss a beat. Fuel economy is a bit on the low side, but I never expected it to be fantastic. I haven't burned a full tank yet so I don't have any real numbers, but I'm assuming mid-upper teens.

Here's a picture of the truck next to my wife's Prius. Somehow we've become a Toyota family of otherwise MoPar enthusiasts.
