I'm getting a pretty bad squeak from my passenger side Icon coilover when cold (not ambient temp, but shock temp). After a few miles of driving the squeak goes away. There are no visible leaks and the ride quality seems about the same as always. I only get the squeak on compression/rebound of the shock, no noise while turning the wheels. They've been on the truck for 1 1/2 years and just under 20k miles. Mostly highway, maybe only 200 of those miles were off-road. What do u guys think? Due for a rebuild already?

Oh and I'm running stock UCAs... So the noise isn't coming from a uni-ball, but it sounds almost exactly like a uni-ball squeak.

mine randomly squeak where the shaft enters the shock body. Once i shoot a little white lithium and bounce the front end it goes away for a month.

Not really sure about the spring binding or shifting, it looks to be seated properly... And I've got them set to the factory 2" of lift. No extra pre-load.

I had this. I just needed Heims? You could tell by lifting your front end off the ground and seeing the wheel move a little when you lifted it. If you call icon they can send them to you.

The bushing that the lower control arm bolt goes through has a heim. not sure on the spelling. It looks like a little ball joint. It pivots for the movement of the shock. When it wears out the bolt will be tight, however, the heim with become sloppy. My shocks had some miles on them when this happened but the shop was able to show me by just lifting up on the wheel. I thought it was my shaft and sprayed chain lube on it as well. Luckily it didn't hurt it because that was never the issue for me.

Hmm thanks for the pic. I can't imagine that part going bad after only 20k miles... I may just take the truck into a shop and have them inspected.

I'm sure it depends on the type of driving. 20k of rocks? IDK. I got mine used and sent them to icon for a rebuild and they went out a year later. I didn't replace the hreims during the rebuild though...

I've over torqued the lower mount on those heims and it grinds and sounds like a metallic squeak. I loosened it up a bit and then made sure it was tight but not overnight and no noise since.

When I installed them I just impacted that lower bolt in... It would probably be a good idea to loosen it up and torque it to spec. Thanks for ur input
