I have 3500 mile on my recently purchased 2015 Tacoma and I find that when I turn the engine off I hear a strange kind of whining sound. Almost as if something is revving up and then down when shutting off. It is not the engine itself but sounds to be engine related. Hard to explain this sound it has always done this.

Mine has always done it too. 1100 miles on the ODO. I think it's the radiator fan stopping.

Mine does it as well, from the day I purchased it. I chalk it up to a "Toyota thing" and pay it no mind.

Until it breaks and you have to pay around $1000 to fix it.

The 4-cyl has had the pump since 2005. Wonder if it behaves the same way?

Picked up my '15 taco the other day..got home today and my wife was in the garage when I turned the truck off. She said "what the hell was that, did you hear that?" I said "yes, it's just the smog pump and its normal." She really thinks I'm smart now!

    Thanks to you, TW!

It is a mechanical action therefore to 90% of the population it is a mystery.

Hell I've had crew chiefs in the Air Force call be and say that a bleed air cart wouldn't start. The reason? They had left the exhaust cover closed there is a kill switch on it other wise the turbine engine would blow the door 500 feet in the air. Sad thing is they are supposed to know a multi million dollar aircraft backwards and forwards yet a simple kill switch confuses them despite the fact that the work cards say open exhaust cover before starting.
