Thanks JimyH. Not all of us saw or read the other posts.

An important issue is at stake here and I would rather use an independent shop for some repairs. Using the dealer facilities does not guarantee that the best service/repairs are done.

I am against this copyright law as the main motivation seems to be eliminating competition for service/repairs.

And no I am neither a mechanic nor own a repair facility.

Why can't they somehow just protect the ECU from being tampered with? They(the blog sites) are blowing this up way bigger than it really is. This is only dealing with the computer systems..which 99.999% shouldn't be messing with.
