ok guys, i got some pretty f ed up news today, my abs light has occasionally come on in my 05 v6, it go off and stay off after a shut down. its been off for 4 months until 2 days ago. toyota just told me theres a fault in the controller( he called it the brain), am i right in calling the control module and its the black box attached to the pump block? is it normal for these to fail?? ive never locked the brakes up in the truck, ever. the light came on after i made a turn going to work and i attempted to reset it by jumping terminals 4 and 13, when it wouldnt reset i knew i had a hard fail and took it to eastern shore toyota. 1888 was there quote to repair. now i know surely the part can be found much cheaper, but whats involved in changing it? can the average guy like me handle it? i ireally want to keep her but and dont like the idea of my abs not working considering the rain we have around here. please help.
