I so enjoy reading people try to use "facts" to back up what is personal opinion/preference

I am not sure that I saw any facts in Josh's comments. I do agree with "wheelinthesky" the hole was dug and there wasn't any recovery. OP sorry your thread got off topic, did you decide yet?

In terms of resale, only 6% of the N American new sales market is currently manual.

Within product lines, the only marquee with a dominant manual trans choice is Mazda, in the Miata model.

Get the auto. It's not a sports car, and it will have better resale for the broader market.

And you'll never regret the long bed. It's only a foot, but it can come in handy.

You are opinionated, I can respect this.
You speak from your own experiences, this too I can respect.
You make ridiculous statements, such as comparing resale value with the new-sales market.

You further alienate yourself from any mindset of reasonable neutrality by assuming that nothing but a sports car can benefit the driver by having a standard transmission.

The only point I can agree on with you is that it never hurts to have a little more space in the bed.

Please take a step back and consider that other people are people too and have their own priorities as well as needs, they are not you, things that you say cannot be anything to them but advice. Just because you have decided that only "sports cars" can benefit from a manual transmission does not make it so.
I do not say these things to offend you, only to inform you that your opinion carries a certain weight of responsibility that you should be aware of... it is all too easy to alienate people by saying things that do not apply to their situation or hold true to their particular driving situation.

I respect your opinions on this mater, all I want is to see a little less pigeon-holing and blaspheming from the auto-trans majority.:)

    Thanks.

Thanks for filling in thoughts and words I didn't use, and your own opinions........

I was merely responding with information that was fitting to the comparison questions the OP was asking about. He only wanted info on two options. Auto long, manual short.

I never said anything against the manual, other than it will have a smaller group of potential buyers, which counts, if resale matters to him. More autos are sold, so by default that means that they have more desirability in resale situations as well. Will seekers of a manual pay more for the 'premium' of a manual? Maybe. But the niche will be smaller.

What I spoke for was the long bed. Which takes you to an auto by Toyotas default in his DC choice, not mine. I personally find the long bed much handier than the short, but he has to decide how he will be using that space, not me.

As far as your attack on me regarding autos, I've driven manuals for years. Including trucks, an NHRA E/S ET record holder, econoboxes and yes, SCCA Solo II sports cars, both boosted and non.

The OP has to decide what he wants more in this case. Long bed or manual trans.
