I have a 2005 Tacoma I'm just getting ready to change the oil and I noticed in the fill tube is sludge like in there that I have never seen it before, want to get opinions as of why its like that and what's the remedy,i hate to think the inside of the engine looks like that, religiously change the oil every 5k miles.

Probably condensation. Kinda milky and real thick? Check any vehicle that only gets driven short distances daily, gonna be there.

Not slamming you, just thought I'd thank vicali for a solid summary of many threads.

But now it sounds like we need pictures, that black sludge might be something totally different.

Black sludge is bad. Photos ?

How many miles on the truck? Oil used ? Oil change interval?

A couple of short interval (1000 mile) changes with synthetic, which have more effective cleaning additives, can help clean up minor sludging.
