Ahh, that makes sense. I was looking for a set with integrated turn signals but I haven't found any I like yet.

I love 'em but i'm far too cheap to drop ~$150 on hand guards. I do own a KLR after all.... :D

I was looking at the tusk ones but i'm not sure they will fit without cutting the lever(s).

Well I'm officially a dual sporter. I just successfully street plated and registered my yz250. :woot: Sooo incredibly easy in Ohio. She's ready for some serious enduro action this year.

I'm probably going with Karoo 3's on my KTM 950 and will keep the Maxis Desert's on my KTM 525 which is also plated and street legal though I really don't ride it like a dual sport unless I have to.

It's hard to find a decent tire for the LC8's. I'm running a K60 on mine and it sucks in the dirt. What tire do you like for offroad?

I ran a TKC 80 for awhile which was OK. The Mefo Super Explorer was better on the dirt but couldn't corner as well on the street as the K60 but it did last 8,000 street miles on a long trip for me. That being said for pure dirt maybe a D909 rear but they don't last for crap I hear. I'm really curious to try the Karoo3 as a friend of mine and semi-pro rider loves them on his Super Tenere.

If steel, sure it would prevent rust for a while until you bash off the PC. I probably wouldn't bother though. If aluminum I wouldn't bother.

PC is not easy to touch up when it gets damaged. A coat of good quality spray paint will work just as well and can be easily touched up if you have OCD about how it it looks.

I'd get an aluminum skid plate anodized, steel plate powder coated.

    KLR owners are weird.

Tore into my 950 adventure that I bought with my KTM 525 from a guy last September. Well lets just say the carbs, jetting, carb venting are all horribly wrong. I found another gem today; the vaccum ports on the cylinder heads for carb syncs had hoses attached (normal) but the hoses weren't blocked off. This explains the super rich jetting and the engine cutting out at low-rpm cruising.

Sometimes I get frustrated tuning my 990 with tune ecu and wish it had carbs, then I read posts like this and remember the truth is you have to dick with both to get them to run right. A lot of guys just plug the carb sync ports together.
