for the record my abs actuator assembly got fried by a bad jump start back in sept. 2011. after all was said and done i shelled out 3k to replace. the real bummer is after all of that i have come to find that the bad jump left some other kind of electrical short/hiccup which drains my battery ever so slowly. i have tried every kind of certified diagnostic process but am left with disconnecting battery terminals for every 72 hrs its not driven

im having a similar problem, its the control unit in my 05, is there a way to bypass power until i can fix it so it dont ruin the pump if it was to engage?

im having a similar issue, apparently my control solenoid has a "open short", and needs a new module. so is this part(the brain) detachable from the pump and replaceable? i seriously dont want to go the dealers 1888 dollar route. got to be a easier, cheaper way.

Just got quoted $1497.20 labor included for part #44050-04080 @ Toyota of Cleveland Tn.
Then he said he couldn't guarantee it wouldnt fry again lol.
I've been running it 2 years(since I bought it) with the abs/brake light on no problems other than panic stopping it would lock obviously.
Ordered a used assembly off ebay for $70 and am going to give it a shot mysmelf.

@Jacked Burton How did it go? Mechanic quoted $2000 so this route is looking more appealing to me. Was the actuator + pump $70 or just the actuator?
I’ve been considering that send-in “repair kit” offered on eBay. Anyone try that?

It was just the pump that was $70.
Still haven't gotten around to fooling with it.
What is this "repair kit" you are talking about?

I've been riding no ABS since I got this thing in 2018.
Just had some idiot pullout in front of me last month and I locked up big time.
By the grace of God I missed everyone and everything but it got me thinking about getting them fixed.
I had it diagnosed right before the Rona started (much cheaper prices)at Toyota of Cleveland in Tn and they wanted $1400 and couldn't promise it would fix the problem.
I got a used abs solenoid for $70 shipped off ebay and got a bootleg copy of Techstream from ebay for $20 but never gave it a shot.
Fast foward to today I ran across a guy I know with a Tow/body shop and asked him if they might be able to do it for me.
He shockingly knew the whole process of the top of his head (same as I've read on hear about how it's done) and said he could do it in about 2 hours.
I might as well have them do a proper flush and put on my new +4 brake SS brake lines while they are at it.
I'm stoked at the thought of having working ABS brakes for the first time on this truck...It's the little things in life

Do you have a write up on that? I have the electric TRD Off-Road booster, considering rear disks on a free float axle down the road at some point and will need to come up with a brake booster solution then I figure.

It didn't go well. Too much of a leg workout to stop the truck. Run a small diameter master cylinder if you're gonna go that route. Even a 1" bore can't build enough pressure to stop the truck properly without power assistance.

These days I'm running a hydroboost setup from a 94 Chevy Astro van. It involved tying into the power steering plumbing as well as firewall and brake linkage modifications but it stops on a dime now.

Had a local shop swap the ECU only.
I don't know if they had to program it or even cycle the actuator but my clutch is firmer so I'm assuming they did and bleed it.
    Only charged me $40 labor.
Should have done this years ago lol.
