i'm looking at buying a 2002-2004 taco with a v6 but I see many for sale that dont come with power windows and door locks (in fact most at decent prices don't have it) so are these simple plug and play swappable parts or will there be issues if I wanted to convert them to power? no mater how easy it is, and im very capable of doing it, im still not interested in running wires and supplying power to run them, I want plug and play only.

I need to know if all year first gen trucks will have the wiring ready to be plugged into for adding power windows and locks to it before I buy so I know whats involved and if I need to be careful what I buy if its an easy conversion to do so its no big deal if the truck I like doesn't already have PW and DL

ok according to the dealership guy on the phone, he says the wiring is only there for what you have and there is no standard wiring harness ready for other options so if you want to add something that's not equipt from factory you have to do all your own wiring for it.

can anyone say for sure if the dash wires and power for door locks and windows are already there or not? and would the door panels need to be replaced or do the switches fit in the holes for the window crank

in my 98 and 99 tacoma i didn't see any wiring for windows or locks. this is how it looks in my 4cyl 2.4
I was thinking about swaping door panels for power window ones and using aftermarket window motors but my trucks are more of a work truck so it wasn't worth it for me. i used ebay kit
(comes with diff switch cover black, tan, grey. you could paint to match interior but im lazy.)

thanks, and thanks for the link, that looks like a very good price too.

just wish the switches looked better, I agree with you having the oem power window panels would be better so I decided to spend the money and get all oem used parts to do it with. just have to figure out a way to run power to it and make a wiring harness to the passenger door
