Actually I drove around them. :D
They had not even plowed kingsbury grade. So I drove through the neighborhood and dropped onto the highway in front of the cop that was blocking the road. Was the only vehicle on the road. Ate breakfast at the top with my buddy and it's flat out dumping snow right now.

A lot. First time all year I've used my snowblower.

Awright. I officially eat my words. What words are those, bjmoose? Well, earlier I said something like "I think weather.com is overselling this storm... I bet snow will fall from the sky, but, I'll bet we only see one to three inches of accumulated snow, if that.

We got a little more than that:

Jason couldn't make it at all since the route from Tahoe was completely closed. So Mike and I met in Angels camp and decided to do a little easier wheeling than slick rock. We went up corral hollow ohv route as far as we could go until the snow got too deep. (The above pic is about where we decided to turn around and go back.)

Then we did forest service road loop 7N09 IIRC. 7N09 is a road you could pretty much do in the family minivan in the summer. But it's a little more challenging with six to twelve inches of snow on top of it.

Mike's still up there somewhere camping... but he was gonna pick a site right off the main highway 4 since it might snow more. I left him after we aired up back at hwy 4.

The day started out with recovering an F150 4x4 that was buried by last night's snow. They got in late, pulled off the road a couple hundred yards onto a dirt road, and went to sleep in the back of the truck. In the morning, the thing was buried in snow and they got good and stuck trying to get it out. The AAA truck couldn't get back there and hailed us as we were airing down. Who can resist a good challenge?

    More pix tomorrow.

    Kingsbury near South Lake.
It pretty much was the most on the ground from an overnight storm. Melting fast though. I only have patches left.

It rained so hard in Santa cruz on Friday night, I figured that woukd be the final blow. Anyways glad the two of you we're able to have some fun. I'm not really in good enough shape to be snow wheeling and camping right now so I think it was good I stayed back. Sorry you couldn't make it over to play in the snow with Steve and mike, jason.

First order of business was to pull this guy out. He and his buddy went to sleep in his truck late on Friday night, and were good and snowed in on Saturday morning.
Rig a come along and extension line so the truck doesn't drift driver side into the rock and tree it was stuck on.
Hook up winch to front and pull.
Then off to wheeling. You can see my diff, which clears about 10", dragging a two inch deep furrow in the snow. So we drove through a lot of "foot deep" new snow. Some was deeper.
This is about as far up the corral hollow trail as we got. time to turn around because every time I stopped, I was about stuck and had to rock and turn furiously to get moving again. And getting deeper as we climbed.
Lower down, we saw some sun
