Ok, so i'm pretty irritated because my truck gave me not one problem today, but two. On the way in to work, i noticed the cab suddenly became very noisy. I looked back and the rear driver window was all the way down. I didn't see it go down but i'm assuming it just dropped, and didn't actually roll down. my arm was nowhere near the arm rest so i didn't do it by accident. when i tried to roll it back up, nothing happened. but if you keep hitting the up button over and over, instead of just holding it, it will gradually work its way back up little by little. so that bummed me out. then, i went to go pick up some new tires for my mower, and when i got back in, the fan wasn't working. In SC summers that in just not acceptable. but i did find that it works just fine, on the highest setting. so the first three setting do nothing, but the highest setting seems to work jsut fine. both of these happened this morning so at this point i'm starting to wonder why i bought a toyota. i had similar problems with my old beamer, but they didn't start until over 200k miles. my truck barely has 50k miles. bummer. anyway, anybody else experience these issues? any suggestions?

My car window did that just before its motor died.

As for the fan, perhaps it's the fuse because sometimes (for some reason) the fuse for the regular settings is different for the high setting, as in my old Chevy.

awesome! thanks for the responses guys. my beamer did the weird thing where you have to pulse the switch to get it to roll up, and it turned out i just needed to take it apart and clean the switch. but i dont know why the window just dropped for no reason. that bothers me because i dont want it to do that at night during a storm, or out in a parking lot where people can just reach in and take stuff.

    Window regulator, and blower resistor.

And if you had BMW go that long before those two went out, you were very lucky. I've damn near seen them go out on the showroom floor.

it was a 1990 325. it was a tank, but it did have some interior trim issues (apparently all of which go out like clockwork on all of the e30 chasis almost down to the exact mile) but those two things were fine up in to the 200k range. the beamer was pretty much unstopable, except for plastic pieces. the plastic latch on the glove box broke so i didn't have a glove box. random crap like that but the mechanical and electronic stuff lasted forever.
