I gotta say . . . at this point I would keep her til 500K. Then get a new 2017 and keep the '06.

I'm keeping my '14 Baja til she's done. And if she last's as many miles as yours - this will be the last truck I ever buy and I gotta tell ya, I'm good with that!

Thought they all did. My 13 definitely does. Hear it passing by concrete barriers or at idle. Oh well, bye bye 350k :sadviolin:

What's that 15k M&M's lol. I think 10k would be fair at half a million miles

not sure if I missed it, but do you still own the truck or did you give it to your son like you said? Curious about how it's running now. Also - how often did you change diff and transmission fluid? How's the frame holding up?

If I heard more reports of stuff like this, I'd probably consider trying to run mine until 200k or 300k :)

    An update.

Still running great at 385,625 miles this morning. My 15 yr old twin boys finished Driver's Ed last month and will be getting their licenses soon, so will start driving the truck some. I change my diffs, transfer case and manual transmission gear oil every 20-30k miles. I use Red Line MT-90 75W90 in the TC and MT and have used both Red Line 75W85 and Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 in the diffs. Frame has no rust and is in great shape. I touch it up with Eastwood frame paint here and there as required about once a year.

I recently installed a receiver mounted winch in the truck:

Planning to buy a 2016 3rd Gen Double Cab Off Road after I see how much power the new engine puts out.

Awesome. Greatly appreciate the detailed report. My 2005 4cyl started consuming oil at about 300-350k. My guess is valve stem seals. I just topped off. The real problem happened at ~600k miles when I had to do my first smog check. CEL's light would only go out after installing an expensive, complete, bolt on factory cat.

M1 5W30 EP is a superb oil. 70% PAO ester. A true synthetic or at least closer to it, loosely speaking. I strongly recommend M1 5W30 ESP pretty soon. I am positive you can extend your OCI's.

This type of info, the reports that you provide, are as valuable of information that is obtainable. Beautiful truck in many ways.

    Thanks for sharing.

Reports like this are the reason I am driving a Tacoma today.

It does not hurt that my son is driving a 2002 Tundra with over 205,000 trouble free miles.

And if no one made this point already this is the reason I have a tacoma and not a Colorado. Awesome post man! My brothers 2003DCOR just hit 250k last week!

If I had not totalled my 4 cylinder 2005 @ 671k miles, it would have had 1 million plus miles by now. I do subcontract small parcel deliveries at 90k miles per year. 2nd gen tacos are the best for quality+durability+low maintenance. It seems like all you got to do is slap some brake pads on there every once in a while.

Excellent gnyla, you give promise to all of the Tacoma owners. I have a good amount of miles on my 2008 Tacoma (201,000) but not close to yours. I hope mine outlasts me !
Good luck to you and the Tacomas new twin drivers.

Many years ago I did the same thing. Mostly Fex Ex and some DHL. We used Toyota trucks exclusively. This was before the Tacoma. Although none of ours were close to 671K. We did have many in excess of 300,000 with some approaching 400,000. Drivers, myself included, beat the shit out of those trucks and they just kept going. :D

OP I didn't have time to view all 15 pages, so this may have been mentioned, but you may want to update page 1,, as you dont list ever changing rear pads

Yes, discussed on page 13 in post #245

    350,000 Miles

At 62,659 miles when the axle seals failed the rear brake pads were soaked in gear oil and were replaced. I had forgotten about this until a question came up and I went back and reviewed the paperwork from that repair. Rear brake pads only have 323k miles on them.

I have updated the original post. Thanks for asking and pointing out I needed to update first post.

You de Man. Are the Michelin At's alot louder than the MS2s. Do they track as straight as the MS2s.

The Michelin AT2s are a bit louder than MS2s. They track straight, but have poorer traction in snow and mud and don't last as long. I am not planning to try AT2s again. Currently running MS2s in P265/75-16.
