Installed my Pelfreybilt Axe/Shovel mount today and I love it. I was looking for a mount to keep them low profile and off of my bed rtt tack.

I ordered them bare and decided to paint them black and used Rustoleum High Temp Paint. No reason for the High Temp except it seems to match my powder coat the best and I have a few cans.
    Removed fender and fender liner
It is best to have extra clips for the liner and the fender before they are removed as I think I broke all but 1 :anonymous:

Toyota Fender liner clip part no. 90189-06065
Blue Fender clip part no. 90904-67036
    Red/Orange clip part number 90904-67037

I measured my axe and shovel body and decided that 12.5 inches was a good spread between the two mounts.
I marked the distance and the holes while holding the rear of the mount against the bed and against the upper rail.
I then drilled a 1/4 inch pilot hole and then a final 5/16 inch hole as the socket bolts are 1/4.

At this point it may be possible to mount the rear mounts to the inside of the bed solo but is far easier to have help.
Find a 3/15 allen key wrench for the socket head bolts and a 7/16 socket wrench for the nuts.
Have someone hold the socket head bolts with the allen wrench and tighten the nuts over the supplied washers and the backside of the tub and BOOM.

At this point, install your axe and shovel and done. Honestly couldn't be more happy with the quality, ease of install and the product.

What did you guys use to drill into the frame for the T-case skid plate? I only have an 18v power drill. I know new drill bits are a must, but what type? I see those pricey stepped drill bits at Home Depot, do they work?

To make things worse, I'll have to drill thru the plates of my bolt-on sliders as well.

I wouldn't bother with a step bit. Just get a fresh, quality bit.

And have a few batteries on charge.

Definitely helps if you use a floor jack to press the drill up slowly.

WD-40 will work but a quality cutting fluid will "stick" to the bit better. But anything in addition to taking your time will be better tan simply turning the drill and high and givin' it hell. Thats a tried a proven way to fry a bit in about 30sec.

I used 2 older drill bits (1 to start the hole, and 1 to finish it) with no cutting oil and had no problem. I think you guys are making this harder than it really is :notsure:. I mean these frames suck, right? :bananadead:

    X2 ^. Don't use a jack. That's just asking for trouble.
