LOL careful there may be some naked dudes on this forum.
Only at night though. I don't wander around during the day with my johnson swinging around. I'm sure you aren't opposed to the ladies being unclad.

For one she ended the Badwater to Whitney race and then refused to comment on why.

Or better yet, understand that the intended purpose of a National Park is to allow more people to share it - not fewer.

I personally can't wait to launch my lawsuit keeping old men and people who can't hike, off trails. I would like to make firewood out of those, restoration posts.

I've read on here that the cabins are first come first served. The two that we visited were pretty bare bones, one had a mattress but it was kind of nasty. That was Osbourne Canyon. There was a nice fireplace and sink and stuff and it's a great shelter from the elements, I would just be too creeped out to sleep inside considering there's always the risk of Hantavirus with the rat droppings and such. However, the one we swung by off Saline Valley Rd on the lower end seemed to be visited much more (the log mentioned someone was there the day before), but that one didn't have a bed, just a bunch of random chairs to go around the fireplace. Unspoken rule is to leave something behind if you use the cabin. We found a random assortment of canned goods and propane tanks. The outhouse even had toilet paper and was remarkably clean! Only thing missing in these cabins is water, so don't find yourself unprepared!

I've only been to the cabins in Warm springs, Butte Valley, Goler Canyon. Of all the ones I visited, The Geologist cabin was my favorite. Russell camp was good too. I personally won't stay overnight in any of the cabins. They are neat to visit and photograph and I like that they are there, but I prefer my own shelters. :) Hantavirus is an experience I hope to escape in my lifetime.

Riley you stopped at Boxcar Cabin. Most cabins are nice for use in inclement weather to stay warm and dry if no other measures are available. Only a few are really good for sleeping in.

I agree, Crom, the Geologist cabin is fantastic; has a great view of Butte Valley, usually has running water in a small spring just outside the cabin and is always clean. I have stayed overnight in the Geologist cabin to escape a brutal wind storm but I try to avoid having too much interaction with the old cabins and mines due to the threat of Hantavirus.

a pic from my overnighter back in 2006. my Yamaha 250XT was a blast to ride up Warm Springs trail but the winds in Butte Valley started howling soon after I arrived. I was hoping to take a nice hike up to the top of the butte but never did make it due to the winds..someday.. another trip!

Well HBMurphy you must have missed the part about NPS mission is FIRST to protect the resource. And how is keeping old men off the trails fit in with your idea of allowing more people to share the resource. And 'making firewood out of restoration posts'; how does that fit with the NPS protecting the resource. Seems like the NP would be better served if you'd just stay away.

I think you missed some of Murphy's sarcasm. Could it be he's actually been to places that are closed that shouldn't be? I know I have. Some I understand due to the historical treasures they attempt to protect. Others such as the Golden Trout Wilderness are BS. Golden Trout aren't even indigenous to Owens Valley yet the wilderness area they are named after closed many trails and two airstrips.

Please tell me you aren't the resident Sierra Club type to likes to keep people out of public lands. One day you will be old and decrepit. Hopefully you will have no will or want to venture out into the wilds where you once decided it best to close roads/trails. Those trails you aptly hiked in your more able years.

I'm all for protecting lands. Especially in Natl. Parks. I have seen many trails that are closed yet shouldn't be. I don't want to see quads and sandboarders on Eureka Dunes but am also of the mindset there are places that support just those hobbies.

BTW welcome to TW. Don't get your panties bunched up.

There are a lot of fun trails that closed when the NP took over from the BLM. But I respect their right to manage and protect the area. As long as they remember that the only way to enjoy the remote areas is to drive there.

Awesome pics, I had too much going on this winter/spring, so
I haven't been out there since December.

Great pics, looks like a good trip was had. I wish the Saline Hot Springs were empty when I was there, too many stranger  dangling parts make the soaking less enjoyable !

That's one of the reasons we went on a Thursday night rather then sometime during the weekend, less people .

And I was an active member of Sierra Club when my brain was still mush. Well intended folks that get used for a few people's struggle for control.
