I bought a used 1999 Tacoma SR5 Extra-Cab 4wd V6 in February of 2005 for $13,000, and I still own it. I bought it with 60,xxx miles on it, and it now has 188,xxx miles on it. I have never put any money into it other than regular maintenance.

Summer of 2003. 129000 miles. Gainesville Toyota, Gainesville Florida. Still running strong. My daily driver. No majors, just normal routine maint. My 2nd go around with upgrades. I find myself asking what the 2020 will look like? Will they be just as good? That is how long plan is to keep this truck running!
    Also own 2012 sequoia.
Will it carry the same respect as my Tacoma? Better!

Bought my 01 new in Jan 01, It was on top of the big truck at my local dealer when I saw it, I asked the salesman what all it had on it and everything fit the bill that I was looking for, I told him when it comes off that truck my name is already on it. 164,500 miles later, still own it.

Nice Taco but I like it better with second set of wheels that you had on it. The middle pic.

Thanks me also. Never heard of Stealth wheels in 2003. Doubt anyone powder coated as much as they do now. Makes me glad all these guys are getting such long life out of a single truck. Need to go another 5 years. Toyota better make a better truck than this one in 2020! 129000 miles and still going¡

Lets just hope that they change back to something close to a 1st Gen body style, the only reason I have not bought a new one already is because IMO the 2nd Gen is butt ugly compared to 1st Gen

Bought my '99 4x4 TRD Tacoma in in May 2002 with 1800 miles on it. Was told it was used as a delivery truck for a flower shop but apparently was not used much. Talked the seller down $100 off the price as there was potting soil all over the inside of the cab. Been my daily driver/light wheeler for the last 13 years. Use the "older brother" FJ40 for all the hardcore stuff so I have not broken much. Good thing I'm close to work as there is only 138,000 miles on it now. Been through 3 sets of tires, 2 sets of brakes, 3 batteries, probably 20 air filters and many oil changes. Other than a new timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, fuel filter and a rebuilt starter, my only cost is all the gas it drinks which is a bit more these days after going up to 33 inch tires. Hope to get many more miles and years of enjoyment out of these Toyotas.

I bought this Truck New off the lot with less than 20 miles on her in March of 2001. My Son wasnt Born and My Daughter was in a Car Seat for the Test Drive. LOL. I have had offers to buy Her and almost Traded her in once. She safely Drove my Daughter and Son to and from High School and taken us on many hunting trips and forays into the woods. Drove us to Basketball Games, Basketball Camps & Family functions. There is 278K+ miles on the odometer and Me or my Family have placed them on there. In February after 2 years of sitting I decided it was time for some tender loving care. She got a Bilstien 2.5" suspension lift with Eilbach coil over spring and a Toytec add a leaf on the rear with a new set of General Leaf springs in the rear. Full engine check with a compression check (the Mechanics were amazed at the compression she still has at this age) Replaced and replacing all the headlights and tail lights. replaced the Water pump with the timing belt. The drive shaft was replaced along with all the drive components (its a 2x4). My son got under the truck and wire brushed the frame and painted it matte black. Hell we even replaced the windshield wiper fluid bottle. LOL. The 17 inch Alloy wheels on it are a set we had on my Toyota FJ, so it got upgraded. The nerf bars that were on it were rusted through so we are talking about weld on rock sliders since the stock jack doesn't have the travel to get to the strong points. She spends all kind of time at the lease, My Son is in love with her again. Its funny, Me and him have put some money in the old Girl but even my Daughter loves the nostalgia of driving her when she is in town visiting. This Truck is Family.
