I just got my frame rust safety bulletin in the mail. Has anyone on here had their frame checked and if so has anyone had any major rust damage? My truck was born and raised in the metro area. Should I be concerned?

Interesting. I will have to check my mail when I get home. I am sure Toyota is sending it to all owners not just coastal based trucks. I will in my recent crawls under my truck I am seeing a bit more rust. But it is all surface rust from what I can see.

No worries really, it has to do with states that used salt for road maintenance in the winter. Colorado uses very little salts and is a very dry climate most of the time, so rust perforations are not normal. Keep in mind, any frame welding voids the corrosion warranty. Look for rust perforations (holes larger then 10mm) not surface rust. Surface rust is normal and should be treated like you would your sliders/bumpers if you care about such things.

The worst place for perforations is next to the catalytic converters, excessive heat from loading can burn the pain off.

I it is a free to you inspection, so take it in at your leisure.

Ok, can someone else try the multi quote. Or tell me how it changed from the last site.

I would click the multi-quote on the 1st quote and then quote on the second. Then I would write my reply. Both quotes would show up. It does not seem to be working that way now.

    Brian,
    I noticed the same thing....

The way I did this one was to hit "multiquote" on both of your messages and then there was an "insert quotes" button just below the reply box that I hit. Then I had to confirm.

One guy has, and started a thread on it: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...sc-esd-frame-inspection-for-corrosion.370470/

Not really. The first round only went to certain states, mostly coastal regions. The second round expanded to 'specific cold climate areas', which includes us (see above linked thread). I still haven't seen a notification in the mail though.

Good to know, not entirely unexpected. Does that also apply even if the rust perforation is nowhere near where any welding was done? Because I can see that one going to court/arbitration. Reinforcing motor mounts or boxing the cab mount come to mind. Would drilling holes for bolt-ons also void said warranty or do you know?

Also, multi-quote be busted man. At least on desktop. I don't see the aforementioned insert/paste quotes button. I had to hit quote on each post to get it to appear in the reply box at the bottom.
