For the past year, I got really annoyed seeing my gas door flap around while driving. I tried searching to find what others did to solve this issue, but I couldn't find much info.

I finally got off my butt and put on my thinking cap and went at it.

I first enlarged the opening up and cleaned up the edges.

I had to mount the gas door housing behind the bed instead of slipping it through from the outside. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to close the gas door. So I used a longer screw and added some washers/spacers so the door would catch the "striker".

In order to make the gas filler line up centered in the housing, I used a zip-tie to align it. I made a little bracket to use as my anchoring point for the zip-tie.

With the housing behind the bed, I drilled 3 holes and riveted in place. 3 seems to hold it nice and snugged so I decided to leave the 4th as is.

I sprayed a light coat of matte black on the rivets to blend it in.

    Here it is closed.

Hopefully, this will help someone out.

Narrow trails and glass bedsides don't always get along.

I dont see what the problem was in the first place Vin. Do you have fiberglass bedsides and the door was just hanging there flopping free? Or do you have the stock bedsides?
