So I have a 2014 regular cab Tacoma. It is wired for a back up camera. I do have the touch screen info-system and the yellow sticker so many threads have talked about. So I found the correct model camera (so I thought) 86790-04010 and bought it. However when I tried to connect them they don't line up at all. Both the camera and connector have 4 pins but the shapes are off. Does anyone know a work around. Please note my Tacoma is still under warranty so I will not do anything that would void that. I'd appreciate any help on this.

20150425_134556.jpg It looks as if the plug in my prewired '13 tailgate would fit that camera. Wondering if there was a change between years, and you need a 'newer' camera?

are you using the correct camera-end of the cable ? or the break point between tailgate and body
so tailgate can be removed. you may just need the pigtail from camera-to-the thing you are showing

^^well looky they do....that may be the issue.

though on my parts chart (sparks toyota) the 2014 'system is 04021' but the 'camera is 04010', for 2015 it is only 04021...

perhaps this typo for wrong camera for 2014 is in many parts systems not just sparks

Thank! Yup looks like I got the wrong camera. I need the 86790-04021. Which is 500 bucks everywhere I've looked. I got a good deal on this camera, would hate to return it. Is there a work around? It fits in the pop and lock perfectly. Bolts line up. Is there perhaps an adapter in can get? Thanks for all your help!

This thread might help. You can shave the camera connector housing to make your harness fit.

I am very curious about this!!! I also have a 2014 REG CAB Taco and want to add a camera. What are the things I need to look for? Where do I find the wiring harness and the "yellow sticker"? I dont know about your Taco, but mine is the most basic radio i think there is.

I believe you have to have an infotainment system. The touch screen, when you turn on the truck should show a message about the camera. The yellow sticker is on the very back right side wall on the bed. Also the wire harness you can see it once you lay your tailgate down.

I was going to try and shave it down but it bothered me that my harness has 6 slots and not 4. Looks like I'll have to return it. I found this thread that shows the camera model I need.

    86790-04020.
Anybody out there have one they'd like to sell?

Thanks for the Rockauto suggestion but I want the feed through my radio not the mirror.

The 86790 04010 also will not have the park grid lines.

I have the mirror, but no camera yet. The grid lines display in the mirror, just 'waiting' for an image.

They (Rostra) support both. I also am going to run mine through the radio (HU) that came with the truck. Hopefully the link works. There are 3 parts...

I think that rostra camera will do the trick. Thanks I appreciate that. Model 250-812 is plug and play! Video shows it all. And i double checked under
the truck and all the same wires and connectors shown on the video. So I should be good.

My only concern with the Rostra is that it seems to be "open" after you install the camera, like there's no plastic around the camera itself... do yall think water can get in there and corrode the tailgate from the inside? Or if you wash your truck water will get in there???

How did that install work out for you? Were you able to do a plug and play reverse camera?

Nope found out I was not really wired for the camera. Not to the radio anyway. I bought the rostra camera for the non prewired 2014 and it works perfectly.

Thanks for responding. I am thinking of doing this on my 2013. Needed to see if I had to got the rostra route...Was it that you couldn't find the right OEM camera to fit the harness? Or was the harness useless?
