While it will be nice to know where the fuel pressure is bleeding off to I think the fact it did not fire right off when a flammable liquid was sprayed into the intake.

Leads perhaps to a lack of spark

Keakar, shame on you! You of all people should remember - it's crazy missing electrode lady! :D

Mod, I like your thoughts about that O Ring. And if it leads to a helpful discovery, I would like to take this opportunity to point out that I (not dollysdad) uploaded that FSM file, and therefore would deserve all appropriate credit. However, as always, if this leads nowhere, I would like to point out that it was dollysdad's idea :D

Wyoming, I hear ya, but couldn't it still be a rich/flooded situation instead of a spark problem?

These plugs are to fill holes left from the casting process, the form sand that made the water passages is removed through them. They were never intended to protect the block from freezing.

sorry, im getting forgetful in my old age lol.

and its official, I now own a white 2004 taco 2wd prerunner for $10,775 out the door except for my local sales tax. (bought it out of state) :http://www.carsmartms.net/2004_Toyota_Tacoma_Diberville_MS_251494203.veh

and no its not a TRD, the guyu said they just put those stickers on all the tacos because they sell faster that way and people want trucks with that sticker even though they have no idea what a TRD package is supposed to have lol.

99 taco 2wd 5 lug 2.4L 4cyl with 123,345 miles going up for sale now

not really, just cross fingers and pray lol.

I tried restarting it 30 minutes after test drive and it started right up, not really sure what if anything can be done to test for random problems like that.

steering was good and tire wear was good so no alignment issues and frame and undercarage looks good, no rust or leaks I can see.rode rough as shit with mud tires that were bald and the suspension was hard as rock, I felt like I was riding a bicycle.

after tires and maybe some suspension tweaks im sure it wont be as "bone jarring"

course my comparison is my soft riding 5 lug suspension and it rides like a car so that's not fair, I will get used to it quickly im sure.

the most dramatic is the gas pedal, my 5 lugger you push the gas and it starts to go, this v6 you push the pedal and you get pulled back into the seat. its not that much but it feels like double the power of my 2.4

I did notice there was no sticker on the timing cover so im sure it was never changed. how long can you let those things go before you "have to" replace them? (im talking about common sense rule of thumb here not until you have a breakdown)

If test 2 indicates leaky injectors. It would be interesting to do a test3 where you bleed the pressure after turning engine off, cylinders stay dry, then crank and see if there's no delay.

Performed a lot of fuel pressure leak tracking testing today. Performed pressure test a and b twice up to 1.5 hours each. At the end of pressure test b, the 1.5 hour mark fuel pressure was down to 10psi.

    upload_2015-4-28_20-10-39.jpg

I removed the intake plenum and inspected the bottom of the injectors with a borescope. Here is the video of cylinder 2 injector while under pressure testing (pressure test b). This is with the borescope going down the intake manifold runner and looking at the bottom of the fuel injector where it would spray into the intake manifold.

Here is the video from cylinder 4.

Here is the video from cylinder 3.

This is promising for a first test it shows the fuel injectors leaking ( is that a good thing or a bad thing :))

Tomorrow I plan to re run this test. I'm hoping to find all the injectors are dry after sitting overnight so when I run the test again I could be more specific which about the severity of leakage from each injector

I'm on vacation and on my phone, but really appreciate the huge amount of work you are putting into this puzzle. I would like to be more involved, but typing on phone is a pain and time consuming. Again, thanks. I appreciate the free knowledge you guys are sharing.

Prepare for a momental thread interruption.:threadjacked:

Better start thinking about your favorite kind of cookies over there you guys! :)

Do they allow you to drink champagne on the clock at Toyota? ;)

EDIT: Oh my gosh, do you realize how many people on this thread are going to say "I told you so" to me if this winds up being it????????? Yikes, I'd better prepare for this :crapstorm:

Spent the night enjoying some very appreciated drinks in Key West. So many thanks. I had to explain to the buds why I was taking pics of drinks. Everyone was happy to toast you, guys and all the work you have done.

    Cheers!

    KO and company.

Sorry about that last one. Walking down Duvall street and notice the crowd up ahead was stopping and checking a store front mannequin. I had to snap a pic. I've never seen one like this. Don't judge me.

is there anything beyond fuel pressure and a bad injector that would cause an injector to leak? such as voltage holding an injector open or something like that?

I'm ashamed to admit that I went 225,000 on mine. I changed it the first time at 90k and was gonna change it at 180k, but frame was failing so fast I said the hall with it. I figured the frame was gonna fail in the very near future,so it was not worth the money and effort. I was wrong. It went another 100k before the frame freely failed. It still ran awesome. I was sad so I found the present truck to replace it.
