Good luck man! Take it down to frame! Its super easy to get the cab off. You can a buddy can lift it off easy. I did a Painless Wire set up on mine and took out all the old wires. Used the Glove box as a fuse block holder.

Good God, salt is not kind to these things. Mine started as this:

    DSC02778_303fea9b38ecb2890483f48a19f0443f729a0b2a.jpg

    000_0246_cfd2e84ff2a33fec4b52745afcd9d531ec9f8985.jpg

    and ended up like this:

    bdparty005_8866e9edeb0c24356f655eba760bb710a8a6025c.jpg

    bdparty004_c9b5dfef3b14f4ad398b29f4355b7ed5449cb805.jpg
And it had relatively no rust. Along the way it got an F.5 engine, 4 speed, 4 wheel disc brakes, soft top from Pakistan, welded steel wheels with 33x9.5x15 BFG KO's. Dune Beige 416 paint.......... This is depressing me. Lot's of work and $$.

Save all the rust see how much it weighs.
If they run and drive sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone

    I bought a project too, 1981 Land Cruiser BJ42:

Like FJ40, but this is equipped with 4-cyl 3B diesel engine (3431cc).

And yes, it’s duck tape there.:D

    Thats a beauty like tacoflyr's
How do you get your diesel through state inspection to license?
I had the same diesel in the mountains of Honduras years ago.
Loved it. You make me reminisce...

What I dont get is how we hear how liberal Europe is becoming, maybe 10 yrs ahead of the USA and
    they allow diesels like yours.
