Congrats to having a great dad to race with!

We have posted about Baja races in the Off Road forum here, but it is a sport, so this could be fine too.

I was a codriver in the '79 Baja 1000 (Class 6) and pitted many times in the 70's and 80's... and most recently in 2006 for Baja Pits at the 500 and 1000 that year.

Our son is co-driver and mechanic for Mattox racing (BITD Class 1500/ Score Class 1) and works on race trucks and buggies daily at Stewart's Raceworks in Santee. So we keep close to the sport... Had fun in Baja last year with Cameron Steele and the Desert Assassins Trail of Missions TV special...

Anyway, be very thankful your dad thinks so much of you, that is priceless!

    Thanks for the video...
Our son in a (blue) Class 15 (co-driving lap 1) car that finished all three laps... was captured on video passing Robert Acer's trophy truck in lap 1... very cool!
Have a look at the short clip on Facebook video: (click on this image)

That's so rad! Good job to him! R.Acer is a awesome dude. I am glad to see him still in the offroad world. I have met him a few times, and he is a genuine guy with a big heart for people.

Do it! All my non race friends are always against it. Saying things like, have fun getting shanked and having diarrhea. I get some people will never understand the awesomeness of Baja. I have met so many amazing people along our adventures, and only a handful of interesting or sketchy people, which will happen anywhere you go. Baja just has so much to offer!

Used to race my motorcycles way back in Colorado, closed circuit street courses. Totally miss it, always have. Racing is so much fun, the speed, action in the pits, friends and traveling is all part of it, soooo cool. Great Dad, way to go.

Some messed up stuff happens more in this country, everyday... according to our local TV news stations. Does that prevent anyone from going on with life in the USA? Baja California is a facinating place and I would never let gossip stop my freedom to enjoy that land.

Paige Sohren and Jessi Combs crash at the 1000. Everyone was ok, they ended up finishing the race and getting 2nd in their class!
