I know there is a lot of negative options on these, but I like them. I think the front end is a little strange, but still bad ass. I also think if you remove the wind guard off the front bumper that it will give it a much more aggressive stance. Someone on here did a Photoshop lift on the 2016 and it looked really good.

I really like the fact that you can get a TRD Sport DCLB with a sunroof now!

I'll be curious to drive one when it comes out. Hopefully Toyota tweaks it for low end torque because GM sure didn't!

Grill needs attention and the "underbite" (as I'm calling it) on the front bumper is just a little funky. Overall, I like the rest of it. I want to know more about the interior and what this engine will return for fuel economy. Those are my big concerns.

Thanks for posting these high res pics. Is the hood scoop functional or just a design element?

The hood Scoop is something that comes with the TRD SPORT model, if you don't want it have to go to the SR5 or TRD OFF ROAD model

So to answer your question Mingo, no it's not functional and doesn't suck in air for the engine.

That's really interesting, these are the first pictures that have been released that show the Chevy Colorado-esque front airdam and the mudflaps that were missing on the previous pictures and auto-show trucks.

Perhaps big tires might help put the large grill into better proportion to the rest of the truck. A shame to put such a large eyesore on an otherwise nicely designed exterior. As it is it sticks out like the nose on a pig.

It still looks like a second gen Tacoma. Certainly not better, but definitely different.

Don't know why that front grill is chrome. 1st and 2nd gen Tacoma TRD sport models didn't have any chrome on them. That was the whole point in getting a sport model, so you don't have all that ugly chrome on the truck. 1st mod would be to black out that grill, unless this is a prototype grill and the actual one will be a different color.

The airdam under the bumper was always there. I saw it at the car show. Looks really easy to take off if you want to go off-roading. Just 8-10 screws.
Also it's still a preproduction vehicle. I can see them putting the chrome grill on the limited and the grill you saw on the limited onto the TRD sport.

Looks like no more room for a front skid plate. I always loved that addition to the rigs.

Yes. It needs a nose job. Other than that, I like it. The nose is mimicking the big rig look, however, I bet it will have a lot of custom grilles available in no time.
