    Good choice on the Hobart.

My welding instructor told us to run a few beads to get the contact tip and nozzle hot, apply lube to contact tip and nozzle, and re-lube it about every 2 hours of welding time.

By just dipping the gun into the lube?

No, take the nozzle off (You can leave the contact tip on) and use a small brush to apply the lube to the inside and outside of the nozzle, and the sides and tip of the contact tip.
I wouldn't recommend dipping the gun into the lube as you would most likely block some if not most of the shielding gas.

I always just dip the whole thing in there, contact tip, nozzle and all. If everything is hot then it should all melt and not clog anything up. And it keeps splatter from sticking to your nozzle.

Fwiw I'm using the blue Hobart stuff. Haven't tried anything else

Well boys. Driving 6 hours today for a position as a welder helper/hand on the pipeline. If things go well, this should be my chance to finally become a pipeliner!

Congratulations, bet it feels good to break into something that was a goal of yours. Work hard, don't play with your fucking phone when you're working, don't volunteer for too much - but do things without being asked... Put your mind to it and you'll go far.

Do you all sleep out on the job site? How does that work?

Meh. I don't even use my truck really. I drive to my welders camper and then ride with him in his truck all day. Saving gas lol.

It does feel good. Everyone's always gave me shit for setting goals and never reaching em. Well I finally am slowly but surely!

And yea no. There's no time for being on my phone while on the line and plus there's no signal out here in the desert anyway.

And no. We all sleep in campers/motels in the nearest town to the work. No sleeping on job site.
