You might want to look at Body Armor rock steps, IMO they are the best looking bolt on running boards available.

Thanks! I don't have the parts #, but its probably not that hard to find. It looks like Chadspride (look above) is trying to sell you his.

Heck, I may want to sell mine, I love them, but have been thinking about sliders since I'm doing a lot more trails than I ever imagined. Check with Chad first though!

    Cheers!

A good set of sliders would suit you nicely, there are a few that offer tru bolt on no drill, and are solid enough to jack the truck with a high lift. SOS are the guys that are making mine as we troll this site :)

Congrats on the new truck and the great deal!

As you outline, dealers can do the math on what gets them the most money and they act accordingly. Sometimes that can be very much in your favor - but timing, stock and luck all come into play for a really great deal like yours.

Welcome to TW. If you want to keep all that cash you saved in your pocket I recommend you leave TW right now ;)

I know what you mean, I've never been a guy to just bolt on thousands of dollars
worth of parts (and I own a harley)
But this little TACO is ADDICTIVE...it makes me want to make it meaner looking than it IS
Got a Curt hitch and wiring for less than $170 bucks today so i'm all set there
Toyota wanted 399.00 for the pt212-35055 boards like the ones above and they CLAIM that
is the discounted price...they're back to charging too much no more bargains there...LOL
I found them at mcgeorge for $303 ALREADY BUT HAVEN'T DECIDED to go with them or not

I also found myself looking at bigger wheels and tires today...hope I dont go nuts but like i said i DO see what you're saying...the tacoma
prerunner is a truck that is just BEGGING to be modded...more than anything else i have ever owned. (to wife: hide my card and do not tell me the location...LOL)

    :)

I'd just recommend taking a breather and living with the truck as is for a few months and figure out what you really want to do long term. It sounds like it was a bit of a surprise for your to have ended up with a Tacoma in the first place! I know a lot of people mod right away and then later end up re-modding. That gets quite expensive doing things more than once ;) So taking a little time to wait (boy is that hard though) will at least make sure you only spend money on something once!

You may want to try the boards on someone else's truck 1st. I found them to be cumbersome.

On a full size truck you step up and there is plenty of door headroom to step in.

On the Tacoma I had to duck to step into the truck.
And then I found myself stepping over them to get in the truck.

Some of them do look good on the Tacoma though.

Well the CURT receiver and wiring kit were a MUST...so no money wasted there. The most it'll prolly ever tow would be a one bike trailer and/or a small enclosed U Haul so no problems there.

You know, I never thought abt hitting your head
coming off the boards but after reading that I see that it may be a problem. I've also noted many running board guys get them and find that out or simply don't like the look with them so they pull em back off. I think i'll take your advice and just drive it awhile, maybe go back to the dealer and get in and out of a few there with boards and see what I think. I don't think we'll tear the seat up that quick getting in and out which was my only reason for getting them.

The 2.7 is no screamer, but for how we'll use this truck it'll be fine. And true, this deal just came out of left field last night
so hadn't planned on even owning one, I will say the little dudes are as solid as they have ever been, I crawled under it front to back everything tight and done right, USA assembled in Texas and they did a great job. I can't fault it.

Just sayin u saved enough to buy the urd SC kit and put out almost identical numbers as the 4.0 and weigh a little less, and still be a few grand under the price a v6 dc. If u ever wanted to justify power upgrades.

Congrats on the truck and the deal!!!

We ended up in a similar situation while shopping for my wife's CRV in '12. It was the end of June 2012, dealer needed the deal to make quota for the month/quarter and the '13s would be hitting the lot soon, we walked away twice with the check already made out to the dealer, a few days later they called and sold us a loaded EX-L AWD for $4K less than the base LX FWD. It's now 3 years old w 55K miles and books at what we paid. Not that it really matters, she's gonna drive it till the wheels fall off

I always make friends with my dealers, well really you gotta get to the manager, talked to the manger for 2 or 3 weeks then finally he called and said he has had the truck too long and finally gave me a deal at a "loss" although they never lose lol

But I will say even at auction these things go for a ton used so if your looking at used tacos the dealer probably has about what they say in them!
