I'd like to join this group of gen X'ers. I miss the 80's, but I function well now, except for the damn kids these days.

Diddo on the hating kids part. Been with my wife almost 15 years and all we hear is "when you having kids?", "why don't you have kids?", "Do you want one of my kids?" blah blah blah.

    So sick of hearing it.

Out of my core group of childhood friends, none of us have children and we are in our mid 30s. Just seems like this generation is more focused on themselves rather than fitting the conventional mold.

I'm the opposite. All of my friends from college seem to be happily married and have a couple of kids. I'm now the odd one that doesn't have a wife or a girlfriend for that matter. My parents are antsy for grandkids, which I tell them I could probably make happen without a wife, which makes them back off for a few days.
