Has anyone had to replace their door hinge? My upper hinge is sloppy. The hinge bracket moves excessively around the hinge pin.
I noticed little pieces of metal coming out where the hinge pin meets the hinge bracket.
I am curious if just the pin, or the entire hinge has to be replaced.
    Thanks

Probably replace the entire hinge. The pieces of metal coming out is probably a bushing of some sort.

This is on a 2011. Damn what are you driving through to cause all of that damage? It looks like shit. Have you ever washed it?

good old fashioned 30weight oil works best in places like this and its a lot less of a mess

It does look pretty cruddy. White lithium grease it is, as well as anything else that settled in it. Here are some better pictures, one a lot cleaner. In the first picture, you can see a piece of metal coming up from the area between the pin and the bracket. The second picture shows one of the pieces of metal that came out.

Actually more familiar than I would like to admit. I have usually seen it applied a little more judiciously, like where it is needed rather than coat everything in the vicinity. Either way it looks like shit! :)

In my opinion (looking at the second set of pictures) The hinge bushings are shot. I doubt they can be replaced if you could even source them. You will probably need to get a new hinge or at least one from a junker.

Thanks Jimmyh, I guess I'm making a trip to the dealership.
