It's super fun. I've only been there a few times. I think they've built some new trails since the last time I was there. I've never ridden the stuff around the lakes.

It's really simple to do. All you need is a jack, Jack stands, 36mm socket, some basic sockets and a pry bar. Should take about an hour to remove both and about 1 hour to reboot. If you were local I'd help.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
It could be 35 or 36 My stock axles were 35mm and the remans I bought when they went out were a 36mm nut it's a good thing to measure if your just buying that one socket for that one nut.

True I can never remember which one was right. I think it also depends on the socket manufacturer.

Thanks Rob. We had planned on doing it tomorrow but it looks like we are having a little b-day party for my son. I don't want to be that dad running late to his kids party. Not tomorrow, NOPE! lol

    I'll get-er-dun next weekend

Anyone out there thinking they want to go to rock therapy, and maybe want to be my copilot... Let me know. I will be leaving sat or sun and be there the whole week. :)

That's right up my alley! Yeah it's the same gold lake, and from where the shuttle drops you off down to gold lake is a short drive. You could absolutely wheel up and over Sierra buttes trail from Sierra City, and down into gold lake. I'm sure the shuttle operators wouldn't care, as long as you're not acting white girl wasted. I'm going to check my schedule, that sounds like a fun trip...

Edit: here's a link to the first trip I did up that way, a few years back.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/gold-lakes-camping-trip-5-14-16.278271/

In that post the picture of my truck in front of the "Sierra Buttes Trailhead" sign is almost exactly where they drop you off for the shuttle.

A little fun out on the Mendo National Forest over the weekend... Camped out at Bear Creek, checked out Letts Lake, did a little wheeling... Fun times.

Looks like fun. Im thinking about planning a gold lake trip for TW but I havent come up with a date yet. I think it would be cool to take over the 4x4 side of the lake. Fish, kayak, swim, bbq, hike, bike , wheel, shoot, hunt. All the good stuff.
