Ellensburg drives?

Sounds like a fun trip, haven't been to Cashmere in forever. However, I'm not done with school until June 12th so I doubt I'd be able to escape (what with the ridiculous programming and Financial Acct. homework I'm plagued with)

 

Hey guys, just a heads up, I ran the WaBDR north from the 'burg and made it about half way to cashmere before running into a downed tree and had to back track about 40 miles. This was about three weeks ago

 

Much snow? Think you could have made it or does it go higher in elevation?

 

Well I went up cle elum area last week and hit snow a lot further than I thought I was going to. So around eburg should be good not much snow left surprisingly

 

You went back salmon la sac? If so could you make it to the Gallagher trail head?

 

Yeah, always a risk when you go early in the season. I suspect it will be cleared by the time Memorial day weekend rolls around. That's 4 weeks from now. I will call the ranger district office and ask if anyone has been through that way and about road conditions before I head up there. Good to know tho, thanks.

 

About three inches when it was there. I didn't have any issues except in some narrow off-camber sections, but that just made my buttonhole a little tight(er). I was at good altitude for the last ten miles or so, so I wasn't worried about not being able to make it through. Guess a saw is on the list.

I didn't go up that way I went south of the valley and up kinda above Easton but more east. But I would think you could get to the trail head

 

Oh okay, we were back there just over a month ago and snowmobilers were still parked on the sides of the road and they wouldn't let vehicles past that big log house thing at the end of Salmon La Sac

This whole thread and no mention of the ORV park, moon rocks, or funny rocks?! I recognize several of the trail pics though, fun place to be.

I'm not a fan of those places. Too many people go there. Well mostly people I try and avoid.

 

Subbed for the possibility of someday moving back to Washington!! Is anyone familiar with the Union Gap area? I work for Costco and positions come up there from time to time. How is that area to live?

 

Depends on when you go, but yes they are popular, sometimes with undesirables. I was just surprised they had not been mentioned. I avoid holiday weekends as it brings out all the people you want to avoid. We usually trek across Manastash, hit up the park and camp somewhere off the trail. Personally the less people I see outside my convoy the better, as that is the whole reason I camp out there in the first place. But the rocks are fun.

 

I'm going to try to get a group going to funny rocks this summer.
