Someone makes switch plates on TW. They are pretty nice looking and seem to be incredibly functional.
Have you seen those?

 

No I havent. Ill have to check it out but thanks again but hopefully that plate will work cause im currently running a double din headunit

I got bored today after work & decided to verify that what worked on the 2000 model year Tacoma with the 3.4L 5VZ-FE also works on the 2000 4Runner with the 3.4L 5VZ-FE in it.

As described above, here is the caged heatsink & the grey connector:



Disconnect it & DRL is disabled without disabling anything else. The headlight/foglight controllers on the steering column work as you'd expect as well as the high-beam indicator. Hopefully lifetimeledlights.com will still honor their warranty, this was my 4th pair with the low beams fried.

 

I finally did this - cut the white wire with the green stripe on my 01. Thanks for the info.

 

Im still a bit nervous to even jsut cut the damn wire.. but I really want to so I could get retrofits

 

Why are you nervous? Just cut it with some slack so if you don't like you can splice it back together

 

It's not like you're messing with your brake lines or anything, it's just a little wire for unnecessary lights. Worst case, it's easy to put back together. Just clip it!

 

Stupid question but has any one tried re-connecting the DRLs?

I know this is an old thread but I was gonna say that my DRL's don't turn off when I engage my e-brake

 

I dont understand all of the hate on DRLs. It can only improve the visibilty of your truck.

The same guys that disable a safety features like DRLs or TPMS will be the same ones that say running Moog LBJs is irresponsible.

 

Because the look like crap

 

It isn't the concept that is at issue. It is the implementation, using the headlights as the daytime running lights.

The first gen 6 lug LBJ design is not ideal. A failure is catastrophic. Using anything but OEM balljoints is your choice. But the reality is, it is a financial choice. IMO, it is an irresponsible choice considering what is known about aftermarket LBJs.
