Well, this past weekend was the Lonestar Toyota Jamboree, and the truck performed pretty damn well. The advice I got here regarding the 63's and shock placement helped a lot. I didn't hit as many trails as I wanted, since I was there as an event sponsor, but I did get out and stretch her legs. No bent leafs this time! I still have to run a wheel spacer, but at even the most extreme droop the shocks clear the frame and the tire. Time to start thinking about the front.

This picture is from the 4WD Toyota Owners Magazine photo shoot. One of their photographers came up to me at my booth and asked if I'd like to be in one of their spotlight articles. That's pretty cool! Who knows when it will actually get published, but it will be pretty neat when it does. He took a ton of static shots and then we ran a mid level trail backwards and forwards for some action shots. Maybe he'll send me a bootleg copy of some of the action shots early.

Looks to be a dually axle. Not a bad price for a 70 with caliper brackets though.

From what I've read, when you put the single wheel outers on a dual wheel axle you actually increase the width. So much research to be done before buying anything. :goingcrazy:

Yeah it would, the srw hubs have the mounting surface for the wheel closer to the outside of the hub. I'd just run the drw hubs, most of the 70s your going to find are going to be drw anyways.

the 2002 Dodge 2500 with cummins ran a Dana 70 rear end under them that comes with disk brakes from the factory.

Also wanted to say that I got on some really steep stuff and power steering didn't have any issues turned with one finger while the front locker was in.

Question: 4.88s or 5.29s with 37s? I have a v6 5spd first gen and I am not a pussy with a trailer so it has to be highway speed friendly.

5.29s should be about right for 37s. 4.88s would leave a little much to be desired.

it really depends on what your starting gear ratio is. if its 4.10 then 4.88 puts you to a factory speed i ran 4.88's and loved them though i had plenty of power, but like all the other guys where saying 5.29's will give you more power all around.

That's usually what the guys who trailer are doing in their tow rigs after they break their janky rigged crap 5mins into the day... Meanwhile we wheel the rest of the day!!

Plus it adds an extra layer of excitement on the drive home, with that constant fear that somethings gong to let loose on the highway. Its like a close connection with our ancestors constantly worrying about getting eaten by lions.

I have 4.10's, i really don't care about power as long as i can go 70 on the highway I'm happy. Offroad i have 20 gears to choose from so that's not an issue. I noticed 5.29s are cheaper fro the 9.5" diffs, so i may just go with those.

Few years back I was pulled over with several violations which made me realize I did not want to fix being a rock crawler... Unbolting front bumper extentions... Rear extentions ... Getting mud flaps... Headlights too high... Snorkel blocking vision... Beadlocks illegal... No thanks. So instead I bought a trailer and a tow rig. Quiet, comfortable, never need to worry about breaking down (it was Toyota... :D) I can haul all my shit, didn't need to worry about packing. A place I could store my stuff and keep it locked up. It's really convenient. After being cooped up in my small ass truck for 4 days it's so nice to get into something more roomy.

That is a plus, I'll give you that but your truck also becomes a boat that gets used a few times a year, if that. Us streetable folk can hop in and piss off some hybrid owners on a daily basis if we so choose :D
