    Noted. Thanks for the info!

Don't care though, love these tires! Phenomenal, period... Especially compared to BFG at's wet, dry, mud, etc traction. Can not be beat for the price. Wish I could buy another set for 5 yrs down the road haha

Loving my authorities so far! Over 6k miles in a short amount of time. Great traction on and off-road, at this point I will be buying them again.

Cant help but wonder if the bashers mouthing here just work for little tire shops or oil change centers and cant stand the comp from all the Walmarts or if they are just too ignorant & lazy to read this intire thread? Since there's also countless reviews on these tires now backing everything up said here it just makes them look ignorant as hell imho.
My BFG tires just suck, had Mich tires dry rotted & cracked in just 4yrs, so more money paid at tire shops dont mean better tires I assure you. You better do your homework these days!

Great writeup here and damn glad I found it.
I do see here that they carry the severe snow flake emblem and didnt notice it while looking them over at Wally so thats great. Eyes never stopped looking at the deep tread...lol
Thanks for all the help guys, its greatly appreciated as these will get the job done for less $$ than the direction I was headed....Thats always welcomed!

fyi: We know about all big companies now days have a house tire line only they can sell. All manufactures do it for them, but the lower end tires they make will never have the manufacturers own name on its sidewall. They put as much distance between their name and those cheap rated tires as they can get between them. Some get forced to claim them, like Coopers unbranded "definity" tires for pep boys, when they had too recall them. Serves them right imo. Sorry long....

I've been looking for new tires. It will be time soon and I've seen the authority's at Walmart and wondered about them and after doing a Google search, I found this thread. I tried to find something out about them on Goodyears website but nothing. On Walmart's website, they claim the 265x75xR16 measure 32x10.5. This is right in the size I want. I want to know if this is a true measurement. The only other tire I'm looking at is the KO 2.

Unfortunately I didn't measure mine when I had them installed, but I'm guessing they are pretty close to that 32" measurement.

The Goodyear Wrangler Authority is hands down, unquestioningly better than the KO2.

Since the cost of Duratracs has come down to within a few dollars of these I am torn. I think they are very similar with the difference being installation and service by a Wal-Mart shop and a "real" tire shop.

I'm running the Authority tires on my personal Tacoma and the Duratracs on my work Tacoma. I give the edge to the Authority on all accounts.

OP is your opinion based of off road use only or all around? Do you have a friend that is using the KO2? Not trying to sound like a dick. Just trying to get all the info I can before my purchase.

I've run the BFG A/T's side by side with other tires on work vehicles in a mix of hard highway and very hard off-road use. The BFG's just don't hold up and have poor traction in all conditions compared to even bargain brand tires. In my experiences they are so sub-par that I'm slowly cycling them out of service on all of the vehicles I manage.

Well, you should be in tire sales because you make a good case. You think I'll be fine with these tires because they will spend majority of their life on road? Very little off road if any. I use my ATV when hunting if I have to go deep into the woods. I went by my local Walmart today and asked about a price for a set of the KO2's and Authorities. The woman behind the counter couldn't find them in stock and it seemed to much like work for her to go online and get the price so I just walked away. I'm gonna try another Walmart and also ask about a lift. I talked with a guy the other day that had a set of KO2 265x75xR16 and he lifted his and said it still scrubs on tight turns.

Have you compared them to the revised KO2's?

If your truck is going to see little time off-road, I might not recommend these tires. A slightly less aggressive A/T would be a better option, such as the Firestone Destination A/T or Hercules Terra Trac A/T II. I see mostly street driving on my commute, but I do off-road with them enough for it to be worthwhile.

I have not. The BFG's are still overpriced and based on the looks it doesn't appear to me that they have changed enough to fix my gripes about them.

Update: at 15k and 3rd rotation. Balanced them 3x each and still get a little vibration over 70mph. A tad frustrating bc they were wicked smooth until this last rotation, but I'm over it...still love these things! Did the anytime locker mod a few months ago and barely use it unless doughnuts are required! (Or really get in the GA mud... Or crawlin') I will update again if my Yota tech buddy and I can get them fully balanced.

And note once more: I REMOVED almost brand new BFG KO's to mount these and they are world's better in every way! Can't stress that enough. Mine haven't gotten louder yet, but will update on that as time passes.

Thanks for the update! I had an older set of MT's I couldn't get balanced properly. Finally took them in and paid the extra coin for a road force balance. Well worth the money as they rode smooth as glass after. Might have similar luck with the Authority's.
