May 28-30th trip Pisgah National Forrest, Hurricane Creek/Pilgrim/Gulches

maps are starting to come together for Saturdays ride On Pilgrim and Hurricane Creek, mostly thanks to @Sandman614

I've got more information coming from @motostar00 about Pilgrim

Hoping to get at least half a dozen or so together for the ride. Should be fun for a mild/moderate ride. We can save the crazy stuff for Gulches Sunday

 

Most of the guys coming are from NC. Not sure if they will wanna drive 1.5 hrs into SC to wheel gulches. Plus these trails are for stock 2wds. Your gonna have 37s going over pebbles

 

If yall need maps for Linville/Mortimer/Wilson creek let me know.

Little lost cove cliffs is a nice spot out that way.

I'm looking at tablets to use for GPS. THE Le Pan mini is getting good reviews for just over $100

 

I was up in that area today. First time on that end of Collettsville. Went to the Wilson Creek Gorge side. I've been on the other side of 90 on Globe Mtn quite a few times but have only ventured off onto one forest road. FR 4071 goes to Thunder Hole Creek where, when the water is high, you can put in kayaks, or so I hear.

"Thunderhole Creek is off of Globe Rd. between Collettsville and Blowing Rock. If you have a NC gazetteer, it's easy to find. The access trail is a spur off of FR 4071. I'm off that weekend, I'll see if I can make it with the fiance'. We've been wanting to get out and do some camping, thanks for some of the camping spot ideas!

 

Just a heads up this is still a go. I'm waiting on my tablet to arrive so I can try to pre nap the route but I'm still planning to make the trip. I think there are at least a few more planning to go as well

The lady wants to ride up this weekend toward Wilson Creek/Mortimer area. Any areas you have questions about or need info on? I'd be happy to look into it while I'm there.

 

Nothing specific but if you find any cool roads or sites mark them on the map so we can find them. My tablet came in last night so I'm going to try to get routes laid out this weekend so it can be used for mapping on the trail

 

Check out little lost cove cliffs if you have time. Absolutely beautiful views. Also some good climbing if you're into that.
