I'd say good idea if the disconnects are placed in an area where they can't get damaged and won't necessarily effect the strength of the cage.

So many stops to make today :goingcrazy: uploadfromtaptalk1430838960466.jpg

Hopefully gonna get a job at the first stop. The 2 off road shops won't pay as much but working in the off road industry might be cool to try lol

Won't they weaken the structure no matter where they're placed? Assume that they are weaker then any weld. I've been wrong before though.

They will definitely be a weak point.

Everyone knows the purpose of an exo cage is to give you more mounting areas for light bars and hi-lift jacks.

Leads to a question back to Rich, are you trying to protect you or the truck's panels?

I'd weld the connections in. Bolt it all up. Then throw a couple small welds where the coupler bolts together. It'd be easier than having than having to cut the tube off fully when you need to but stronger than just bolting it together.

Trying to protect the truck which in turn would protect me. Would love to run with the big boys but thought about the carnage this weekend and how I would feel if I raisined my almost new truck and definately not committed enough to run a full cage all the time

You see Tod's truck? He's the solid axle flat bed first gen taco. His truck is still beautiful with maybe one dent in it and has been running with the big boys for years. Some dents are inevitable sometimes but a lot of em can be avoided with proper lines. Hell, only one dent on my truck is actually from wheeling and I wheeled with them all weekend and a few times last year. Don't overbuild. It was your first time wheeling on rocks pretty much. Just keep wheeling. Learn how to pick and judge lines. Slowly build up your truck and do cage last if you still feel the need.

I agree, a quick release exocage takes away from the dexterity of the metal in the release points. I think it would run a higher risk of causing more damage than good.
