I'm looking forward to lifting my taco. a medium lift 2.5" or 3" but I'm still new to all this lift kits and suspensions. So I want to know where is a good start for a body lift and what will the prices be.

Well.. all depends on what you plan to do with your truck. IMO id just spend on a suspension lift even though Ad a leafs are kinda bad (from what ive been told) but toytec has some fairly inexpensive lift kits

There are many threads on this already.

First off, what will you use the truck for? If it is just on the street, you can get away with a body lift (around $200-300) or blocks in the rear and strut spacers. I really do not recommend either though.
Get a suspension lift. A simple, relatively cheap, but reliable setup used by many is bilstein 5100 struts set to the highest clip with an aal (add a leaf) in the rear leaf pack (about $500). This is good for general use and a decent amount of offroading. Do not get a drop bracket lift if you want more articulation, as it will only lower the stock components. The cheapest option would be a body lift These are really not good for your truck though. 0.02

    who said this and why?

Add a leafs are fine, blocks may increase axle wrap and leaf frowning

I pretty much want it for the streets! I think I might go with the bilstein 5100. This is exactly what I'm aiming for. This truck in the picture has 2.5" bilstein lift set at the highest setting all around.

I did, also as I stated I said "IMO". But I was told they were.. Just like the OP when I was ready I was gonna come here to ask for advice too. BUT I was told by a buddy of mine who has Ad a leafs on his tacoma said he they were bad.. MAYBE couldve been the brand he got.. or something or wasnt installed properly.. Im just saying what ive been told by a few of my buddies cause most of them have the money for a full leaf spring kit.

5100's cranked all the way up are going to be really stiff. I wouldn't do it if I were you. get the 5100's and pair them with eibach or ome coils. let the coils do the lifting not the struts. I would get an aal anyday over a block

I have 5100's on my tacoma and 285/75/16 do want to add a couple inches more but I do agree that if you want to stay with a budget and good setup the 5100 are good. Anyone have any other ideas to say about adding a few more inches other than a body lift
