Does anyone know if there is an Arizona off-road trip/trail route and condition thread here?...or anywhere else...

I have the guide to Arizona Back roads and 4 wheel drive trails book and it's great. However, it does not include many secret locations and trails not does it reflect correct trail condition (published in 2012).

I recently took a drive to mt. Ord and took FS27 back to the 87. The trail is rated as moderate, but was washed out in many spots. Therefore, out was actually quite difficult in many spots, with a f-ups resulting in rolling off the narrow shelf road and tumbling up to 3000ft below. There were only two turn around spots in six miles, as it was a narrow shelf road, never having more than a couple of feet wider than my truck and as little as 6 inches ...kinda sketchy for 2+ hours.

Anyways, it would be nice to know the good, the bad, and the ugly of some trails and roads, before embarking....thoughts?

Hopefully not too many mall crawler Tacoma's in this thread ;)

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Thanks bud, I will keep that in mind. I went up to Flag this winter, but didn't really know where to go...lighty duty explored up near Snowbowl and then hit Schebly Hill road (Bumpiest road in history) into Sedona on the way back to Phoenix. It was a fairly nice trip, as there was a decent base of snow in the woods.

I will PM you next time I head back north.... (when it gets ungodly hot in Phoenix).

Haha, I know there are allot of trail users here. I just can't resist poking fun at the perty trucks...

I officially earned my Arizona pinstriping badge last time out on my 2013...all the way through the clear coat....a little sad, yet a little proud :)

Just post up where you want to go and there are good chances one of us has been there since last years floods. I know I'm planning to go north for the expo this month.

Cool, I will actually be 10x more likely to head that way than Flag. The Show Low area (well north east of Phoenix in general) has been my favorite area in AZ. Its the most wooded and green, mildly reminds me of home (New England). In fact, heading up towards Payson has been my favorite day trip for the Taco (Hence, the multiple visits towards Mt. Ord and Tonto NF)..... Thanks again

Its a favorite pastime. Hahaha. But yeah hit me up next time you are up and we can hit some trails and get more pinstripe  lol
