Polls were wrong last election. There is still a large anti-leftist movement in Alberta. I can see the PC's picking up undecided and WR votes today from people who are following the election just to try and poop on the NDP.

Honestly I foresee a NDP victory.

I realize that , that particular pollster uses multiple polls and creates an aggregate

He also addressed where some of the predictions last time went so far off course in his previous articles

Doesn't matter though , we'll know fairly quickly once the polls close I would think

    It's the beauty of bureaucracy.

Meh. I hope the NDP can, at the very least, balance the tax system so that this oil price crunch doesn't hurt as bad in the future.

Don't worry yourself. It was a joke. HST also applies to everything GST doesn't, so at the end of the day it hurts families and no one wants to hurt families other than conservatives right?

The thing I fear most is waking up my wife in a bit. The polls close at 8 pm and she hasn't voted yet. I'm not sure how she'll react considering this is the first sleep I think her and my newborn have been able to get all day.

The BC Liberals campaigned on not introducing the HST , then they won and introduced the HST , then people got really pissed off and signed enough recall petitions that the government legally had to put the HST to a Provincial referendum , the Premeir resigned over it and he's now Canada's High Commisioner to the UK , then we , the taxpayers paid to have a Provincial HST referendum , and the new Premeir said that if the HST remained it would fall from 12% to 10% , but 52% of BC voters are retarded and thought they would really get back at the BC Liberals and voted out the HST and we as taxpayers paid to have everything revert back to GST + PST , then a couple years later the voters were still so mad at the BC Liberals they won a majority

    WTF

Yeah lol, my brother has some buddies in the BC Liberals. They basically told me the same story.

Personally I think Alberta should be like Quebec. Let's sewer our income tax and get the unemployment rate up a bit. That way we can maximize what we collect from good ole mother Canada jks.

if Alberta were on the brink of becoming a "have not" the equalization formula would be rewritten to keep the money flowing to the east.

Seriously , why the opposition to a PST ?

They could make it 4 or 5% , province makes income on lots of transactions , cost to the taxpayer is relatively small

I think we could get away with a bump in the income tax and a SLIGHT bump in the corporate tax rate, as well as the other measures already proposed. I would rather pay another 1% income tax than a PST. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that will cost me less at the end of the year. If the NDP want to roll out a large budget then a PST will be necessary, and it won't be less than 7%.

"At a 2013 provincial fiscal summit, economist Bob Ascah suggested that a 1 per cent sales tax could raise $750 million in annual revenue for the provincial government. "

    and

" To get a grasp of how embarrassingly low our tax rates current are in Alberta, Kevin Taft in his 2012 book, Follow the Money, says that Alberta could increase its tax rates by $11 billion and would still have the lowest tax rate in Canada. "

I'm not sure it would have mattered who got elected in that election. There isn't a lot to work with...

Beside McNeil being on the news more often, I have noticed ZERO difference between the old NPD and the current liberals.

Interesting. I still would rather pay that money in income tax over PST. Just my personal preference.
